The intervention takes place in the space connecting the museum’s new building to the Van Horne/Shaughnessy House. The house, formerly a duplex and now embedded at the center of the new structure, unfolds symmetrically from its core; a party wall built along an original lot line: the axis of duplication. It is along the extension of this axis that the museum’s new wings are deployed on either side.

The installation seeks to reinforce the transitional nature of this space and to reveal the dual character resulting from the shared wall condition. A semi-reflective glass wall is installed along the axis of duplication. Through reflection and transparency, the glass reaffirms the site’s morphology, generating a virtual double that overlaps with the real one. On one side of the mirror, projected images gradually appear on the floor, suggesting various paths of approach toward the house. Borrowed from both the backyard and the front yard, they highlight the ambiguity between front and back. Multiple transfers occur: between old and new, between real and virtual, between past and present, and between front and back.
